• Invited by Dr. W. Münzer, Bayerische Landesanstalt für Bodenkultur und Pflanzenbau in Freising-Weihenstephan, Germany to train his students and research assistants in Giemsa C-banding techniques. Also, participated in a colloquium in Freising on C-banding procedures to identify rye and wheat chromosomes. [Organized by Dr. F. J. Zeller and  Dr. G. Kimber, August 1976.]
• Invited by Dr. M. S. Swaminathan, Director General, International Rice Research Institute, Las Baños, Philippines, to attend the International Rice Genetics Symposium and to present a paper entitled “Association between linkage groups and cytologically identifiable chromosomes of rice.” May 1985.
• Invited by Dr. G. S. Khush, Head, Department of Plant Breeding, International Rice Research Institute, Las Bañas, Philippines, as a Visiting Collaborative Scientist to standardize a uniform numbering system for the rice chromosomes, June 1986.
• Invited as a consultant by Dr. F.M. Quin, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria, for about three weeks (November 1993) to provide his expertise of wide hybridization to the cowpea wide cross program.
• Invited by CRC Press, Inc., Boca Raton, Florida, to write a text book on Plant Cytogenetics, published in 1993.
• Invited speaker, Soybean Rust Workshop by the National Soybean Laboratory to present a paper entitled “Development of hybrids between wild perennial soybeans and Glycine max (L.) Merr. and resistance to Phakopsora pachyrhizi Sydow.”  August 1995.
• Invited Dr. Ted Klein, DuPont Agricultural products, Wilmington, Delaware, to examine transgenic plants cytologically.  October 1995.
• Invited by The Land Institute, Salina, Kansas to present a seminar entitled  “Cytogenetics of the Genus Glycine Willd.”  October 1996.
• Invited speaker, C - 7 Symposium on Food Legumes organized by ASA/CSSA for ASA meetings in Anaheim California, October 1997.
• Invited by the International Organization of Plant Biosystematists to attend and present a paper entitled “Soybean and its wild relatives” at VIIth International Symposium Plant Evolution in Man-made Habitat, to be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, August 10-14, 1998.
• Invited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, India, to attend the International Conference on Managing Natural Resources for Sustainable Agricultural Production in 21st Century (February 14-18, 2000) and to present a paper entitled “Utilization of exotic germplasm for improving soybean cultivars.”
• Invited by the Soybean processors Association of India to attend India Soy Forum 2001 (March 17-18, 2001) held at Indore, India and to present a paper and discuss possible future mutual collaboration for soybean improvement.
• Invited by the Crop Science of Society of America to disseminate information on status of ‘Exploitation of Alien Species to Improve Soybean’ in ASA Meetings in Indianapolis (November 11-14, 2002).
• Invited by CRC Press (Taylor&Francis) to edit a series on Genetic Resources, Chromosome Engineering, and Crop Improvement. This series constitutes five volumes: Grain Legumes-Volume 1, (published in 2005); Cereals-Volume 2, (published in 2005); Vegetable Crops-Volume 3, (published in 2006); Oilseed Crops-Volume 4, (published in 2006); Forage Crops-Volume 5, (Expected in 2007).
• Invited by Professor Kiichi Fukui, Osaka University as Visiting professor, to deliver eight lectures on Plant cytogenetics to students (October 12, 2004 to January 12, 2005). The lectures were video taped for future students. I conducted research on multicolor fluorescent hybridization.
• Invited by Dr. Jon Clements, CLIMA, University of Western Australia, Crawley, Australia (March 4 to March 8, 2006) to discuss wide hybridization in lupin.
• Invited by Professor G. H. Chung, Department of Biotechnology, Chonnam National University. Yosu, Chonnam 550-749, South Korea (September 4 to October 4, 2006). The main focus of this visit is to train students for handling seaweed chromosomes and deliver lecture on basic cytogenetics.
• Invited by N. S. Sipani, Sipani Krishi Anusandhan Farm, Mandsaur, M.P. India to discuss method of broadening the gene base of soybean (October 8-16. 2007).
• Invited to attend International Symposium on Forage Breeding (Simpósio Internacional Sobre Melhoramento de Forrageiras), Embrapa Gado de Corte, Brazil and to present a paper entitled “Cytogenetics and Plant Breeding” (November 5 to 7, 2007).
