Installing SAS 9.2

SAS 9.2 Installation Directions (x32 or x64)
- Copy the license file (SAS92xxx.txt) to the desktop or other easy to locate folder – you will be browsing to this file in step 4. Note that the license file can be found in the academic section of the unzipped file of licenses downloaded from the UIllinois Webstore. There is a different license file for each version (8.2, 9.1, 9.2 x32 and 9.2 x64)
- Insert the DVD and begin Autoplay or Setup.exe – this should start up the SAS Deployment Wizard 9.2 (2-4 minutes to load). If Autoplay doesn’t start automatically (if you have installed the security updates for auto opening, it won't start up on it's own), use My Computer or Explorer to access and run the Setup.exe file.
- Take defaults – the setup wizard will install MS Runtime Components 7 if needed. If it notes that a reboot is needed, you’ll need to reboot according to its prompts – logon the same way and the installation program should pick up right where it left off.
- Watch for hidden windows that might not display at the forefront.
- Occassionally, an error occurs and installation gets stuck in a re-boot cycle - seek help.
- Next, the main install should begin which will have a default location for SAS and then will ask for the SAS Installation Data file – this is the license file that is names SAS92…..txt. Browse to this file and click Open.
- Take all defaults from here to the end of installation except that you can unselect Teradata formats, the SQL for C, and the Intranet monitor options from installation..
- Don’t sit around watching this as it will take up to an hour to install depending on the speed of your computer.
- This package uses Java 5.12 and will install it if not present. This will not conflict with newer versions of Java and will only be used by SAS. This version of Java is needed for the ODS and HTML options to work properly.
- On completion of installation, you should install the x32 or x64 patches for SAS - there are more than a dozen of these. These are available on a separate CD or can be downloaded from SAS Support.
